    Welcome to Band, Chorus and Orchestra (BCO)

     
     
    The Lincoln School offers Performing Ensembles to 6th, 7th and 8th graders.  
    The Band, under the direction of Karen Sheppard, includes wind, brass and percussion instruments.  The Chorus, under the direction of Karen Sheppard, includes singers working in unison, 2 and 3 part harmony. The Orchestra, under the direction of Susan Gottschalk, includes violin, viola, cello and bass.  
     
    Formal Concerts are performed two times a year, in both Winter and Spring.  
    These concerts are required as part of the class.  
      
    Winter Concert Season
    Chorus - Thursday, December 5 at 7:00PM at Lincoln Sudbury Regional High School, call is 6:30
    (Chorus, grades 6,7,8)
    Chorus - Wednesday, January 15 at 7:00PM, call is 6:30
    (Chorus, grades 6,7,8 and 5th grade ukulele chorus)
     
    Band Bash - Wednesday, December 11 at 7:00PM, call is 6:30
    (Band, grades 6,7,8 and 5th and 6th grade flutes, clarinets, trumpet trombone and percussionists from Wednesday's Instrumental Classes)
     
    String Fling - Wednesday, January 22 at 7:00PM, call is 6:30
    (Orchestra, grades 6,7,8 and 5th and 6th grade violins, violas, cellos)
     
    All concerts take place at the Lincoln School Auditorium, unless otherwise noted.  All snow dates are the next day, Thursday.)

    Trills and Thrills Music Festival for Band, Chorus, Orchestra - grade 6,7,8 ONLY.

    Concert Dress for Band, Chorus and Orchestra
    is black pants/slacks or skirt (no mini-skirts - hem needs to pass the finger tips) and a white shirt/blouse.  Black shoes; Boys - black socks.  No sneakers. No jeans.

    Eastern Junior District Festival is a fantastic musical experience for any advanced musician from grades 7-9.  Auditions this year are on:
     
    Saturday, February 1 at 11:30 at Needham High School (snow date Feb. 2).
     
    The Festival itself is Friday and Saturday, March 13 and 14 (snow date March 15) at
    Lincoln-Sudbury Regional High School.

    Any interested 7th or 8th grader should see me ASAP for information and details.  Please feel free to visit their website, but do not contact any District Festival personnel.

    Students will participate in the Trills and Thrills Music Festival on Friday, June 5.   This is an ALL DAY event.
     Students will perform in a friendly competition for judges, and will receive a Superior, Excellent, Good or Fair plaque for their efforts.  Then we continue on to Canobie Lake Park to celebrate.  Permission slips are coming soon.
