Dear Lincoln K-4 Families,
This morning, we held our third and final consecutive Community Meeting to kick off the school year! Students are already in the routine—they arrive at the Learning Commons, find their seats, and respond right away to the “We will, we will, listen—listen” signal.
This week’s “Guess Who” segment featured the 2nd and 3rd grade teams.
From 2nd grade:
- Ms. McGrath wears sparkly shoe
- Ms. Mihovan loves yoga and used to teach it
Ms. Webster has a dog named Addy
From 3rd grade:
- Mr. Kelly used to be a firefighter and EMT
- Mrs. Witherbee rode in a helicopter over the summer
- When she was in 3rd grade, Mrs. Staffin’s pet turtle ran away
Students had a blast trying to match each fun fact to the correct teacher!
Green Team leaders Mrs. Blumberg and Mrs. McDonagh, along with KM, led a session on how to properly sort items into compost and trash. To wrap things up, students in Room 40 created a video highlighting our CARES values in the hallways. Ms. O’Sullivan directed and produced the video, with Mr. Ben (Dixson) serving as the cinematographer.
The K-4 Back-to-School Night is scheduled for September 25th from 6:00-7:30 pm. We have a General Assembly in the Learning Commons for a brief message from me, and to hear from our awesome parent groups. The teachers then give two presentations, one starting at 6:30 and the second starting at 7:00 to help caregivers get to multiple grade levels. Specialists and academic support teachers (math, literacy, multi-lingual teacher) will be available to visit, as well as our new Administrative Assistant, Nanette LaRochelle.
I hope you have a terrific weekend!
Warmly,
Sarah

A MESSAGE FROM THE HEALTH OFFICE
Dear K-4 Families,
As the school year progresses, this is a common time of year for lice to make an appearance. Lice are tiny insects that can cause itching and discomfort. It is important to know that a lice infestation is not a sign of poor hygiene and can happen to anyone.
We encourage all families to be vigilant and check your child's hair regularly, especially at the hairline on the back of the neck or behind the ears. Nits (lice eggs) will look like small, yellowish-white to brown specks and will be firmly attached to the hair, unlike dandruff or dirt, which can be easily brushed away.
If you discover lice or nits, please notify the school nurse and seek prompt treatment to prevent further spread. In addition to treatment, please wash all bedding and sheets in hot water and vacuum bedrooms. Items that cannot be washed can be placed in a sealed bag for two weeks.
To help prevent the spread of lice at school, please remind your child not to share personal items like hats, jackets, or hair brushes and to limit head-to-head contact with friends.
For more information, please see the links below:
Thank you for your cooperation in keeping our school healthy.
