Hello Lincoln K-4 Families!
Congratulations and thank you to the kindergarten students for hosting our Community Meeting last Friday. After watching a read aloud of "I am Me" by Susan Verde, illustrated by Peter Reynolds, the kindergarten classes led an echol song! They showed their identity posters and shared one thing about themselves and it was so fun to learn about each student! Thanks to the kindergarten teachers, Mrs. McDonagh, Mrs. Jaehnig and Ms. DeAmicis for preparing the students!
Congratulations and thank you to the students who presented the 4th Grade School Spotlight at the School Committee meeting last Thursday. They shared techniques they used to write poems and then shared an original poem. Next up, the 4th graders will be sharing their original graphic novels at their "Comic Con" event! Many thanks to Mr. Nickerson, Ms. O'Sullivan, Mr. Reed and Mrs. Torchia for promoting creativity and voice in student writing.
We are accepting donations of cereal through June 9th for our 2nd annual Cereal Drive. Last year we collected and donated 450 boxes of cereal to the Lincoln-Weston Food Pantry. Click here to watch the video of last years cereal box dominoes! looking for volunteers to help set up the Cereal Domino and help us transport the donations to the St. Vincent de Paul Food Pantry.
We value your feedback and invite you to complete our Family Feedback Survey. Please note that the form has been updated and no longer collects email addresses. If you have already submitted a response, rest assured that we will review all feedback by grade level, and individual names will remain confidential. If you have more than one child attending Lincoln K-4, please complete a separate survey for each child. The survey will remain open through June 1st.
Here is a message from the Lincoln School Foundation following the wonderful Great Create event last weekend:
The Great Create 2025 was a huge success! We’re so grateful to so many for the support and partnership in making Color Our School such a meaningful experience. It was so much fun to watch the kids dive into the creative process yesterday and leave their mark on the school in such a lasting way. This was an amazing, inspirational art event, facilitated in partnership with Beehive Art, and meant to inspire our children and create a lasting piece for them to connect with in the school.
Thank you to Beehive Art for their creativity, hard work and vision on this project. Thank you to Sarah Collmer and the Lincoln School Administration for their support and flexibility in bringing this to life in the school. Thank you to the Step Team for performing and thank you to the Lincoln School Foundation board, the Art Educators, Middle School Volunteers, Community, parent and family volunteers. And thank you to our very generous sponsors and raffle donors! (Platinum Sponsors: Beehive ART, The Ogden Codman Trust, The Commons in Lincoln. Gold Sponsors: Corey Flint Photograph. Silver Sponsors: The Little General. Bronze Sponsors: Debra's Natural Gourmet, Lincoln Land Conservation Trust and Rural Land Foundation, Kirkland & Shaw).
And a huge thank you to all the children who brought their creative minds to each color panel! Check out the final installation that is displayed in the main hallway across from the library in the K-4 Smith building and the kids trying to find their art in the panels!
Mission accomplished.
See you next year!
Lincoln School Foundation
Hope you enjoyed the long weekend!
Sincerely,
Sarah

PROTECTING YOUR CHILD FROM TICKS
Ticks are out in full force. This time of year, adult ticks are active and Nymph ticks have also hatched and pose a threat due to their tiny size.
Here are some important ways to protect your child (and yourself).
-
Wear light colored clothing so ticks are more visible.
-
Cover all exposed skin areas such as ankles, arms, and legs with clothing. Clothing can be treated with Permethrin Spray (good for 6 washings). Permethrin Spray is available through Amazon or Walmart.
-
If skin areas are exposed, use a spray that contains DEET directly on skin.
-
Ticks love to attach to skin areas in warmer parts of the body- ears, armpits, behind knees, groin area, and scalp. Be sure to do a TICK CHECK on the front and back of your child’s body every day they are active outdoors.
-
Avoid walking/ playing/ hiking in heavily wooded or grassy areas. Hike in the middle of trails. Avoid leaf piles. TIcks thrive in shaded areas so it would make sense to put swing sets and other backyard play areas in sunny areas if possible.
The following websites have excellent information on ticks, prevention, and tick borne diseases:
