    Dear K-4 Families,

It is time for the annual placement process in which our educators and administrators work together to create class lists for next year.  We take into account many factors, including students’ strengths and needs in the academic, social, emotional and behavioral domains. We strive to create a balance of academic proficiencies, emotional maturity, behavioral dynamics, peer relationships, and services received. Creating classrooms where children are grouped appropriately for instruction and learning is our top priority.

School staff know current students well based on their time together and through ongoing collaboration with caregivers. Input from sending Preschools/Early Childhood Programs and the ESI Parent Questionnaire is used to place rising kindergarten students. We take great care and go through a thorough process to make thoughtful decisions about each student’s placement.

Families who wish to provide information to be considered by the placement team can complete this Class Placement Family Input Form. The form is not required, and your child’s placement will be carefully considered, regardless of whether or not you complete this form.  However, if there is compelling information (including the two details below) from your family that should be considered for placement, please complete the form no later than May 23, 2025.  Please be aware that the information in the form is not confidential and will be shared with the placement team.

    Please complete the form if:

    • You have twins or if your child has relatives in the same grade - please indicate if you would like them to be placed together or separately.

    • You are considering withdrawing your child, or know that your child is not returning to the Lincoln School next year, please let us know by responding to the last question in this google form.

Requests for a specific teacher will not be accepted. You may indicate if an older sibling has already had a specific teacher and you wish for your child to have a different experience. Additionally, given the number of factors and complexity of forming the classes, it is not possible to honor requests for placement with specific friends. Finally, please be aware that, for all the reasons described, changes to placement are rarely, if ever, made.

We can’t make any guarantees to accommodate family input due to the number of students and factors that must be considered for the whole school. However, we will always work with you and your child through the transition into the new school year and beyond.

Class placements will be sent out via email in the second week of August.

    Sincerely,

    Sarah

  • A Week of Special Events!

This year the district provided funding for field trips to be free of cost for all students!  Many thanks to the School Committee, Superintendent Parry Graham and Ms. Angela Wang, Administrator for Business and Finance, for your support!

    • Fourth Graders had an enrichment visit from the Mass Audubon on Wetland Communities, their "Harmony" performance with Mrs. Hoffman, and a field trip to the Museum of Science!

    • Thanks to the PTO Enrichment program, Third Graders made rope, candles, scrimshaw (made with soap), sachets and more with guest teachers from Historical New England.

    • Second Graders enjoyed a beautiful day on their field trip to the Franklin Park Zoo.

    • The Kindergarten School Spotlight at the School Committee was a small group presentation about identity. The students explained that identity is "who you are and what you like" and they shared their identity posters and the important message from the book I Am Enough by Grace Byers:  "I'm not meant to be like you. You're not meant to be like me... We're here to help each other when it's tough.  To say together, I am enough."

    • The SAFE (Student Awareness of Fire Education) Program came to all classes this week. Members of the Lincoln Fire Department came to talk fire safety, show some equipment, including a very heavy helmet!  See below for a flyer about the SAFE Program.
