Dear K-4 Families,
Happy May! Just before dismissal on Friday, we played “Celebrate” by Kool & the Gang over the PA in honor of the 3rd and 4th graders completing the Math MCAS. The students approached the assessment with focus and determination, and we are all very proud of their hard work!
Walk, Bike and Roll to School - Next Week!
We encourage all students to walk, bike, or roll to school each day next week. Volunteers will be out to help guide students safely to school, including once on school grounds. Students who take the bus to school will get dropped off at the end of Ballfield Road to take part in the week as well.
If you drive onto campus, please be mindful of some added traffic delays and additional pedestrians and bikers moving about.
Rollers: Please observe the new "Pedestrian Zone" areas. Walk your wheels on the bus loop sidewalk to keep everyone safe.
A Note from Assistant Superintendent, Torrance Lewis
The district is making tremendous progress with our K-8 Literacy Curriculum Review. As we continue to pilot three potential programs for the 2025-2026 school year and beyond, we are offering a Parent and Caregiver Informational Session on Thursday, May 15, from 6pm to 7pm in the Donaldson Auditorium at The Lincoln School. At the informational session, parents and caregivers will receive brief overviews of the three programs, as well as have the opportunity to view program materials and to fill out an input survey.
Personnel Updates
- On Friday we wished a fond farewell to Mrs. Peña, 1st & 2nd Grade Instructional Assistant. She and her family are relocating to North Carolina!
- Lincoln School has a track record of hiring highly sought-after Administrative Secretaries, as evidenced by another resignation in the front office. Lauren FitzPatrick's last day with us will be May 23rd when she will return to the corporate world. Please look for more details about the search process for a new Administrative Secretary!
The K-4 specialists team has updated our specialist's blog. Check it out to see what's happening in specials classes this month.
Wishing everyone a safe and fun school break!
Sincerely,
Sarah

The week of May 5-9, the Lincoln School will be celebrating Teacher Appreciation Week! The PTO organizes ways to show gratitude to teachers and staff Monday through Friday. We have planned activities for the teachers on Monday, Wednesday, & Friday. Please encourage your students to write letters of thanks or draw pictures for their teachers throughout the week.
Families are welcome to participate in any or all of the activities, or celebrate in their own ways in addition to what is planned.
Monday
“We couldn't have PICKED better teachers & staff!”
Students can bring flowers or plants to any of their teachers or assistant teachers AND bring in hand written notes of thanks to your teacher. Each year they love receiving notes from students and families!
*flowers can be one single flower, a bunch, a plant, or made out of paper/drawn picture
(please remind students DO NOT PICK flowers from yards other than theirs)Wednesday
“Our teachers & staff are quite PASTAbly the very best!”
Please help thank our amazing Lincoln School teachers and staff by making one of your favorite food dishes, or pick something up from your favorite take-out spot. Sign up to bring items HERE
Grades Pre-K-2: Need 2 main dishes from each Pre-K, Kindergarten, 1st grade and 2nd grade classroom
Grades 3 & 4: Need 2 salads from each 3rd and 4th grade classroom (green salads, pasta salads, vegetarian salads)
Grade 5: Need 3 dozen drinks from each class
Grades 6-8: Need 4 desserts from each grade
We would LOVE assistance with setup and clean up. In addition, if you'd like to contribute, but do not have time or ability, there is an option to contribute financially and the PTO will purchase items for you. Details are listed on the sign up!
Friday
“You’re one in a M$LLION”
Families may donate as many or few $5 gift cards as they feel comfortable. Gift cards can be from anywhere families would like to contribute from (grocery store, coffee, restaurants, ice cream, etc…). Teachers & staff may pick the gift card of their choice on Friday. This has always been a favorite, and we're excited to continue the tradition! Gift cards may be brought in any day through next week, and dropped in the box inside the main office, may be purchased online and emailed to Brianna Doo or emailed to Venmo Brianna to purchase gift cards for you (ptochair@lpto.org). Emailed gift cards will be printed and added to the display.
