• A Note from the Principal

    Dear K-4 Families,

Today was our first community meeting!  Students and staff came to the learning commons for our WELCOME meeting. We started with the morning announcements, which included the Pledge of Allegiance. To kick off the Welcome theme, we recognized the towns and cities where Lincoln School students live - Lincoln, Boston, Stoneham, Maynard, Billerica, Salem, Woburn - to celebrate the many communities coming together in our school. Fourth graders Charlie and Lucy read All are Welcome written by Alexandra Penfold and illustrated by Suzanne Kaufman. The whole school said the refrain, "All are welcome here." The meeting closed with our school cheer which we practiced by doing the movements, whispering, using a medium voice, then in groups.  We closed with a unison cheer! Future community meetings will be led by classes and focus on our CARES values and other important topics for our community.

We have some amazing parent organizations in our community - LMPB/Lincoln METCO Parent Board, LSF  / Lincoln School Foundation,  MCC/ METCO Coordinating Committee, PTO/Parent-Teacher Organization, and Lincoln SEPAC/Special Education Advisory Council.

Lincoln School Foundation is looking for volunteers! We currently need help with our annual appeal, events, and website and social media. If interested, please reach out to Philana Gnatowski (philana.gnatowski@lincolnschoolfoundation.org) or Vickie Slingerland (victoriaslingerland@lincolnschoolfoundation.org). More information from LSF can be found below.

Last week, MCC held their first meeting to review the calendar of events and enrichment opportunities for the school year. MCC "creates opportunities for Lincoln resident and Boston resident students and caregivers to build authentic and lasting relationships and an equitable exchange of welcoming experiences in both Boston and Lincoln." Stay tuned for updates on how your children and families can participate and connect!

The PTO met this morning to hear school updates from myself, Jay Peledge (5-8 Principal), Marika Hamilton (METCO Director and AIDE Coordinator) and Alison Bryan (METCO 5-8 Academic & Enrichment Specialist). Other topics discussed were PTO enrichment, room parents, volunteer opportunities, and meeting planning. Please take a moment to verify your information for the school directory, which the PTO oversees. Detailed instructions can be found below. We hope to see you at future meetings!

Our parent organizations will introduce themselves at the K-4 Back to School Night on 9/26 and you can learn more and find contact info on their websites (linked above).

Kudos to all the kids, families and staff for making our first 5-day week productive and fun!

    Sincerely,

    Sarah

Lincoln School Foundation – Volunteers Needed

The Lincoln School Foundation (LSF)* is excited to get to work for the new school year. We are looking for a few more volunteers from K-8 families in Lincoln and Hanscom in order to do so. If you’re a caregiver interested in volunteering, we would love to chat more. We currently need help with our annual appeal, events, and website and social media. More specifics below on the latter as it’s a critical role.
LSF Technology, Website and Social Media Position

The Lincoln School Foundation is looking for a current K-8 caregiver volunteer to fill the Technology/Website/Social Media position on the board. The Technology advisor reviews and manages the website and our social media account. They also help with coordination of file-sharing. We meet once a month and time commitment would be spread throughout the year.

*The Lincoln School Foundation is a private non profit organization which awards community raised funds to faculty and staff in the Lincoln School District. Our goal is to help teachers reach beyond traditional programs in order to uncover fresh, innovative tools and techniques to bring to the classroom and school. Please visit our website for more information: https://www.lincolnschoolfoundation.org/.

If interested, please reach out to Philana Gnatowski (philana.gnatowski@lincolnschoolfoundation.org) or Vickie Slingerland (victoriaslingerland@lincolnschoolfoundation.org). Thank you!
