Off-site, Online & On-site PD!
Kindergarten Cross-Campus Early Literacy Learning Grant
This three-part cross campus grant, generously supported by the Lincoln School Foundation allowed our district kindergarten team to attend an off-site professional development with Kathy Collins and Matt Glover focused on emergent reading and writing in May of 2017. The second part of the grant provided the team with professional resource books and allowed the them to participate in an online summer book study of I Am Reading: Nurturing Young Children's Meaning Making and Joyful Engagement with Any Book. The final part of the grant brought Kathy Collins, one of the presenters from the one day workshop and co-author of I Am Reading, to Lincoln for two days to refine and expand the team's knowledge gained from the one day workshop and their summer book study. As a part of the second follow up visit to Lincoln, Kathy Collins provided a cross-campus, parent/community workshop to extend the learning beyond school walls.
The community workshop was held after school on Tuesday, November 7th from 3:10-4:00 in the Tarbell Room at the Lincoln Public Library. Children were welcome; 8th grade volunteers were on hand to read to children in the children's room.
