A Note from the Principal
Dear K-4 Families,
It was wonderful to have so many caregivers in attendance for our Back to School Night last night. We hope you found the evening to be informative and enjoyable, and that you have a good picture of what school life is like for your child(ren). Please take a moment to provide some feedback so we can learn from you and make this evening the best it can be. Click here to complete the google form survey.
The slides from the General Assembly are included below. They feature the parent/caregiver organizations that support the Lincoln School- SEPAC, MCC, LMPB, LPTO, LSF and LMPB. Each group is a network of caring and outstanding volunteers who contribute time and talent, and coordinate enrichment and connection with the school community and beyond. There are opportunities for volunteers with each group, and especially the Lincoln METCO Parent Board which is currently a team of one! Information about each group and contact information are included in the slides.
Each year I hold a bus safety assembly for each grade level. It can be difficult to answer specific questions in this format, so this year classes will get to watch a video (I'll bet your kids can identify voice actor narrating the slides) and I will visit each class to answer questions. The video will be shared and hopefully, families with students who ride the bus will take some time to review the expectations and how they connect with our CARES values. The Student and Family Handbook includes Bus Safety Rules (PDF pages 423-45). Later in October we will have the chance to practice evacuating the bus. Dennis Murphy, longtime Doherty's bus driver, tells us that he hasn't ever had to evacuate a bus in the 40+ years he's been driving!
Have a wonderful weekend!
Sincerely,
Sarah
