Ofrenda Photo Submission
The ofrenda (altar) is a sacred traditional space created to honor and remember those who have passed before us. We invite our school community to contribute to this special display.
Students are encouraged to turn in a labeled picture of a loved one who has passed (pets included) to Señora Sykes by Friday, October 30, 2026, if they wish it to be included in the Ofrenda.
Please make sure the back of each photo is clearly labeled with the student's name and the name of the loved one so that all pictures can be safely preserved and returned following the event.

Click here to view the Helping Kids Navigate Friendships to explore recommended book lists, articles, and podcast episodes from Dr. Damour on handling friendship breakups, bullying, and social conflict.
Quick Highlights from Dr. Damour’s Presentation:
-
Help Without Fixing: Sometimes kids just need a safe space to be heard before jumping to advice or a plan.
-
Teach Healthy Conflict: Help kids move past passive aggression ("doormat with spikes") or aggression ("bulldozer") to stand up for themselves respectfully.
-
Empower Bystanders: Remind kids they don't have to handle bullying alone—they can speak up, comfort a peer, or inform an adult.
-
Create "Traffic Patterns": Kids find friends through regular shared activities—increasing their time in these spaces helps them connect with the right peers.

For parents, caregivers, educators, and community members who support children and teens of all ages.
Do mornings feel rushed? Is homework a daily challenge? Does your child need frequent reminders to get organized, manage time, start tasks, or follow through? Executive functioning skills—the skills that help us plan, organize, manage time, regulate emotions, and complete tasks—are essential for success at home, in school, and in everyday life.
Sarah Ward will share practical, easy-to-implement strategies to help children and teens strengthen these skills and develop greater independence and confidence. Participants will learn how to support young people in organizing materials, managing time, breaking tasks into manageable steps, creating effective routines, and taking greater ownership of their responsibilities.
Participants will leave with tools to help young people:
- Build effective study habits and homework routines
- Organize materials and manage tasks
- Better understand time and plan ahead
- Initiate and complete assignments more independently
- Develop confidence and self-advocacy skills
This interactive program will provide caregivers with practical strategies they can begin using right away to help children and teens become more organized, independent, and prepared for the demands of school and life.
