Email Jay if you can help: jpeledge@lincnet.org

PTO is also seeking grade level reps:
In an effort to streamline all of our signups and information, we have moved everything to Membership Toolkit.

The app is available to download, but the desktop version is also available if you prefer. The link to signup for classroom coordinator can be found HERE.

Please let us know if you have any questions or issues. If you have not signed into your account to update information, you will need to do so prior to accessing the signup or directory.

If you are new to membership toolkit, you must create your account via the desktop, and then you will be able to access the app.

Thank you so much for your support!

What's Going On About Our Building

Walk, Bike, and Roll to School Day, Wed, Oct. 7

Our school annually participates in a Walk, Bike, or Roll to School Day each October and typically once in February before our full week engagement in May.

Students who ride the bus get dropped off at the corner of Lincoln and Ballfield Roads so that they too can "walk" to school.

The ofrenda (altar) is a sacred traditional space created to honor and remember those who have passed before us. We invite our school community to contribute to this special display.
Students are encouraged to turn in a labeled picture of a loved one who has passed (pets included) to Señora Sykes by Friday, October 30, 2026, if they wish it to be included in the Ofrenda.

Please make sure the back of each photo is clearly labeled with the student's name and the name of the loved one so that all pictures can be safely preserved and returned following the event.

Celebration Highlights
  • Community Ofrenda Display: Admire the traditional altar decorated with golden marigolds, bright papel picado, candles, and photos.
  • Complimentary Treats: Enjoy fresh, sweet churros and authentic hot chocolate with family and friends.
  • Cultural Experience: Learn about the symbolism, music, and art that make Día de Los Muertos a cherished time of remembrance.
We look forward to sharing this memorable and meaningful afternoon with you!

Math Kangaroo - Gr. 7 and 8 Students Only, Register by Dec. 31

Math Kangaroo is an international math competition that takes place each year on the third Thursday of March. If your 7th or 8th-grader enjoys tackling challenging math problems, I encourage you to ask them if they would like to be signed up for the 2026 MK Competition. In the coming months, we will be offering practice problems to all interested students as well as opportunities to conference with a math teacher during office hours or other times they might be available, e.g. lunch time. On March 18, 2027, we will be administering the paper-and-pencil test here at the Lincoln School, which is registered as a private Math Kangaroo center.

If you are new to Math Kangaroo please read Math Kangaroo History.

Families of interested students need to register their students themselves. (This way you will be able to view your student’s results after the competition.) The steps to register are listed below.

If your student is new to Math Kangaroo, you will need to take 2 steps:
       1. Create an account with Math Kangaroo, and
       2. Register your student for the competition.

If your student was registered last year as a 7th-grader, you have already created an account with Math Kangaroo, so you just need to log in and register your student (jump to step 6 below.)

The steps to both set up an account and register: (Registration opens September 15 and closes Dec 31.)
2. Set up your user account. (You will see a blue button that says “Login/Create Account” in the top right corner of the site.)
3. After you create an account, log in and click on the tab By Invitation.
4. Copy and paste this code in the field Invitation Code: LPS@2027MC
5. Do not share the code with anyone.
6. You are ready to register. Screenshot tutorial here: Registration for Private Center.
7. There will be no cost to you for registering – Lincoln Public Schools will cover the registration fees.

Once your student is registered, in addition to the materials we will provide in school, you can access some free Math Kangaroo video solutions. You can also purchase full questions and solutions sets with 50% off. IMPORTANT NOTE: It is not required that you purchase any materials or courses from Math Kangaroo – that is totally up to you.

Questions? Contact Ellen Metzger, emetzger@lincnet.org

Important: After you receive the registration confirmation email from Math Kangaroo, review the email to make sure all information is accurate. If something needs correction, update the registration or email info@mathkangaroo.org. Also, please have your student let their math teacher know that they registered.

Utilizing Pikmykid

Our K-4 side has moved toward Pikmykid as an online tool to streamline dismissal changes in timely and effective manners. As the side that handles bus duty, we know this can be an adventure.

While many of our 5-8 students walk or bike home, we will be utilizing Pikmykid to handle late bus or late pick up needs for afterschool activities. Download the app, create an account, and alert us as to how your child will be getting home each day (be sure to adjust if they are in an afterschool activity).

Help Out Our Green Team

Want to help at school? Join us as a compost helper! Guide students as they sort their lunch items—volunteer weekly, monthly, or quarterly. Check out our updated training deck, complete a CORI in the main office, and sign up via our Google calendar. Questions? Contact Green Team members Gwen Blumberg (School Librarian), Nicole McDonaugh, (Kindergarten Teacher), or our parent and community volunteers: Emily Hasslet, Candace Pearson, or Lauren Wirth. We'd love to have you!
