Family Update

August 17, 2026

The modern architecture of Hanscom Middle School features a facade of grey panels and brick, with large windows.
Dear Hanscom School Parents and Caregivers,

For those of you who I have not met yet, my name is Erich Ledebuhr and I have the honor of being the principal of the Hanscom School. If you have just PCS’d here, welcome to Hanscom Air Force Base and the Hanscom School. We are happy that you are here and we are looking forward to getting to know you as we go through the school year.

Our teachers report back to work on Wednesday, August 26th to prepare for the opening of school. Our annual Meet and Greet for grades 1-8 will be held on Friday, August 28th from 1:00-2:00 pm. There will also be a special Meet and Greet for our Kindergarten students that begins at 12:00 pm.

The Meet and Greet gives students and families a chance to come into the school, meet teachers, see classrooms, and spend some time together before the school year officially starts on Monday, August 31st.

I will send out another email next week with more specific information about the first day of School, Monday, August 31st. This email will include information such as where students will meet their teachers on the first day, lunch information, drop off and pick up, all of those logistical pieces that are so important to starting the school year.

In the meantime, please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns. We look forward to seeing all of you next week on Friday, August 28th at 1:00 for grades 1-8 and at 12:00 for Kindergarten for our annual Meet and Greet!

It will be so nice to welcome everyone back to the building and share in the excitement for the upcoming school year.

Warm Regards,
Mr. Ledebuhr

Kindergarten Meet and Greet

Our Kindergarten Meet and Greet is scheduled for Friday, August 28th from 12:00-12:45pm. This will be a wonderful opportunity for incoming Kindergarten students and families to visit Hanscom School, see the kindergarten classrooms, meet some of the adults and peers who will be part of their kindergarten year and ask any questions you may have.

We’ll also be sending each incoming Kindergarten parent an email with more detailed information about the Meet and Greet and the first few days of school. You should receive this email mid-week. Should you still have remaining questions after you review these materials and attend the Meet and Greet, please feel free to reach out to the main office at 781-274-7720

Staffing Updates

We are pleased to welcome the following new teachers and staff to our team.

Mr. Gerard Coughlin will be joining our team as our new Coordinator for Student Services. Mr. Coughlin recently served as the Director of Special Education and Social Emotional Learning for the Westford Public Schools. He comes to our district with a wide range of experience and we are pleased to be welcoming him to our team.

Ms. Fenna Beverly will join our 7th grade team and teach math. Ms. Beverly is also a veteran teacher whose most recent experience was with the Sudbury Public Schools.

Ms. Maia Proujansky-Bell will join our team as our new literacy teacher. Ms. Bell comes to us from the Hudson Public Schools, where she also served as a literacy specialist.

We also welcome back Ms. Mariah Lane as a long term substitute teacher in the 1st grade for Ms. Defina. Ms. Lane served as a long term substitute last year in the 1st grade, we are lucky to have her as part of our team.

Ms. Anne-Marie Lilly who has been a regular substitute nurse for us joins our team full time as our new assistant nurse.

Finally, we are still working hard to fill a vacant special education teacher position and a few special education and instructional assistant positions. We hope to have these positions filled by the start of the school year.

Please join us in welcoming all of our new faculty and staff to our school and community.

SUDBURY SPRING FLAG FOOTBALL LEAGUE

This fall for the 17th year, Sudbury Flag Football League will be running an organized flag football
program in Sudbury.  This is a non-contact contact version of football where young players can develop their passing, catching and defending skills.

The SFFL Is for BOTH Boys & Girls. The games will be played by the Official National Flag Football rules. Each player who is placed on a team will receive an NFL replica jersey with NFL team colors with matching shorts and a flag belt and flags.

Registration for Sudbury Fall Flag Football League is open and we currently accepting applications for its 2026 Spring league for children who are currently grades K through 9.

Games will be played on Sundays. There will be 8 regular season games plus play-off games. The
majority of games will be played on the field turf.

We have a limited number of spots available. The first proposed date of the league is Sunday 9/13. The drop-dead date for registration is Friday 9/4.

Please do not wait till the last minute because once we hit capacity, we will NOT be able to add any new players. Unfortunately, last year we had to turn some players away.
