Family Update

August 11, 2026

Dear Parents and Caregivers,

For those I have not yet met, my name is Erich Ledebuhr, and I have the honor of serving as the principal of the Hanscom School. If you have recently PCS’d to Hanscom Air Force Base, welcome! We are excited to have you here and look forward to getting to know your families throughout the school year. I hope you have all had a relaxed and enjoyable summer.

As the school year approaches, I know many of you are feeling a mix of excitement and anticipation. To keep everyone informed, I will be posting a weekly Family Update on our school’s website. You can expect a "Back to School" update next week with all the essential information you will need for the start of the year.

Important Dates and Events

  • First Day of School: Monday, August 31st (Full day for all students, Kindergarten through 8th grade).
  • Annual Meet and Greet: Friday, August 28th
  • Grades 1–8: 1:00–2:00 pm
  • Kindergarten: 12:00–12:45 pm
  • This is a wonderful opportunity to visit the school, meet teachers, and see classrooms before school begins.

Classroom Assignments
During the first three days of school, our grade-level teams will conduct academic assessments and team-building activities. Using the insights from these days, teachers will determine student sections.

  • Grades 1–5: Classroom teachers will be assigned by Thursday, September 3.
  • Grades 6–8: Individual schedules will be provided on Thursday, September 3.
  • Kindergarten: Assignments will be finalized by Tuesday, September 8.

Until these dates, students will be directed as a group by their teaching team. (We will send additional, specific information to Kindergarten families regarding the Meet and Greet schedule soon.)

The next Family Update will include further details about the Meet and Greet, along with information about new staff members that are joining our team. I am truly looking forward to the new school year and welcoming everyone back in the coming weeks. In the meantime, enjoy the rest of your summer.

Warm regards,
Erich Ledebuhr

SUDBURY SPRING FLAG FOOTBALL LEAGUE

This fall for the 17th year, Sudbury Flag Football League will be running an organized flag football
program in Sudbury.  This is a non-contact contact version of football where young players can develop their passing, catching and defending skills.

The SFFL Is for BOTH Boys & Girls. The games will be played by the Official National Flag Football rules. Each player who is placed on a team will receive an NFL replica jersey with NFL team colors with matching shorts and a flag belt and flags.

Registration for Sudbury Fall Flag Football League is open and we currently accepting applications for its 2026 Spring league for children who are currently grades K through 9.

Games will be played on Sundays. There will be 8 regular season games plus play-off games. The
majority of games will be played on the field turf.

We have a limited number of spots available. The first proposed date of the league is Sunday 9/13. The drop-dead date for registration is Friday 9/4.

Please do not wait till the last minute because once we hit capacity, we will NOT be able to add any new players. Unfortunately, last year we had to turn some players away.
