Dear K-4 Families,

Last Saturday’s Juneteenth celebration was a vibrant community event, filled with energetic performances, delicious food, and games. As always, the LPS Step Team delivered an impressive display of skill and spirit; their message to “stomp out all -isms” and find confidence in one’s voice was truly inspiring. The gathering also provided a wonderful opportunity to thank the event organizers: Kristen Ferris (MCC Chair), Kim Mack (Chair of the Lincoln METCO Parent Board), and our dedicated Lincoln METCO team—Marika Hamilton (LPS AIDE Director) and Alison Bryan (5-8 Academic and Enrichment Coordinator). We were also thrilled to welcome our new METCO Director, Jaron Green!

The event also served as a backdrop to recognize two significant milestones. First, we honor Kim Mack, an 8th-grade parent who has been the driving force behind the Lincoln METCO Parent Board. Since the start of the pandemic, Kim has worked collaboratively with Ms. Hamilton and the MCC to establish the Diversity and Dialogue discussion series and what is now our annual Juneteenth celebration. These initiatives have been vital in building community and a sense of belonging for our Boston-resident students and families. Beyond these events, Kim has served as the METCO Liaison on the School Committee, providing a crucial voice for METCO participants in policy development and district oversight. Thank you, Kim, for your unwavering commitment!

Additionally, we are marking a major transition for Marika Hamilton, who is moving from her role as METCO Director to serve as the district’s AIDE Director (Antiracism, Inclusion, Diversity, and Equity). Throughout her seven-year tenure as METCO Director, Marika has been a steadfast partner to both staff and families. She has worked tirelessly to integrate the various communities within Lincoln Public Schools through dance programs, affinity groups, and district-wide professional development. Her expertise and passion have been instrumental in fostering a culture of equity and belonging. We are deeply grateful for her service and leadership.

The Kindergarteners had their end-of-year celebration including their identity posters and wonderful singing led by our music teacher, Mrs. Hoffman and the Kindergarten Team, Ms. Curry, Mrs. Jaehnig, Mrs. McDonagh. Ms. Cruz, Mrs. Tryder, and Ms. Tolpa. The students have come so far this year and we are all so very proud of them!

The first graders had their time to shine at the First Grade Celebration! Ms. Laughlin, Ms. Kim, and Mrs. Nageotte and the students welcomed caregivers into the classroom to come together and share their work. Kudos to the first graders who put in the work to become stronger readers, writers, mathematicians, build independence, and contribute to their classroom communities!
Field Day was a fantastic experience for everyone involved - students, staff, and volunteers alike! Everyone had big smiles at the different stations using hula hoops, parachutes, circus acts, relays, scarves and more. Thanks to the PTO for providing popsicles and to Ms. Love and Mr. Trask for organizing such a fun day for all!

Have a wonderful weekend - see you next week for our final days of the 2025-26 school year!

Sincerely,

Sarah

Students from Lincoln and Hanscom Schools brought their energy and passion to their performance at the Juneteenth Celebration held at Lincoln School on Saturday, June 6, 2026.

Dr. Marika Hamilton, AIDE Director, creates the routines and (Ms. Sherra) "Coach Kearse", Hanscom Staff, works with the team at weekly practices. Many thanks to Ms. Scynthia Charles, LPS Staff, for supervising the students on the bus rides across Route 2!
