Happy June, K-4 families!

We closed out the month of May with some spectacular community energy last week!

The LPS Step Team, brought their talent and spirit all the way to West Memorial Elementary School in Peabody. That same energy was on full display during our recent Kindergarten Orientation, as well. A huge thank you goes out to the phenomenal team of educators who welcomed our incoming 2026-27 Kindergarten students and families. We hope our newest community members felt right at home, thanks to the hard work of kindergarten teachers Caroline Curry, Haley Jaehnig, and Nicole McDonagh; instructional coach Maureen Markelz, LASH coordinator Karyn Saxon; math specialist Rachel Goldner; LPS AIDE director Marika Hamilton; and METCO director Jaron Green. The welcoming effort was beautifully supported by related service providers Shelley Moeller, Jessie Wiggins, and Dori Fishbone, and multilingual learner teachers Liz Eisenman and Tara Martinez. We are especially grateful to PTO co-chair Alex Brook and LSF co-chair Amy Travis ro taking time out of their days to speak about our wonderful parent groups. We are incredibly fortunate to have such an awesome, dedicated team!

The excitement keeps rolling right into this weekend with the upcoming Juneteenth Celebration on Saturday, June 6th. Brought to you by Lincoln METCO, MCC, and the Lincoln METCO Parent Board, with generous funding from the Boston Bridges Initiative, this is a community event you won't want to miss. Make sure to come out for the food trucks, local vendors, and live performances—including another chance to see our own LPS Step Team in action. Let’s bring this same wonderful energy into our final two weeks together.

Sincerely,

Sarah

Fun Opportunity for Green Team Volunteers (and their kids!)

Dear Lincoln School Composting Volunteers,

Thank you so much for your awesome support this school year! Since January, we have had six amazing volunteers helping out over multiple days. While this number is down from twenty unique volunteers from September-December, we still LOVE our volunteers and whether you joined us for one session or many, we truly appreciate YOU and your time.

As we look ahead to the end year, we are in dire need of volunteers and would be delighted to see you again– or to have you help spread the word about this important work we are doing in our school with others who might also be interested in volunteering.

If you'd like to spend time with your child as you volunteer, your child is welcome to join you at the compost table if they would like to pull up a chair and eat their lunch with you, don a pair of composting gloves, or use the coveted composting tongs!

Please don’t hesitate to reach out with any questions or suggestions. Thank you again for your invaluable support!

Most sincerely,

Gwen Blumberg & Nicole McDonagh
