Dear Parents and Caregivers,
As we head into the Memorial Day weekend we took time this week at every grade level to recognize the importance of the upcoming holiday. On Thursday our Kindergarten through third grade students had a community meeting to learn about Memorial Day and also the significance of the poppy while having a chance to make a craft poppy.
Today, our 4th through 8th grade students held a Memorial Day observance. We all gathered in a reflective and respectful way around the flag pole in front of the school. Members of our 8th grade class shared the history and importance of Memorial Day. The observance ended with the reading of In Flanders Fields poem while students each held a poppy that was created by our younger students on Thursday. After the poem students observed a moment of silence followed by the playing of TAPS.
I hope that you all have a wonderful Memorial Day weekend and we look forward to welcoming everyone back to school next Tuesday the 26th of May.
Warm regards,
Mr. Ledebuhr
