On Saturday, several Lincoln students had great success in the MA History Day state-level competition. 6th graders Graham, Charlotte, Samir, and Josh took home a special prize from WGBH for their documentary on the impact of the Industrial Revolution on child labor.
Several 5th graders served as vanguards of the "Young Historians" showcase; Holden, Thomas, Lucas, Hayden, Eliot, Case, Lucy, Charlie, Celine, and Perrie all did great.
And for the first time in Lincoln School history, we have a national qualifier, 8th grader Marcelo Buendia whose documentary on Lincoln Town Meeting's role in the town's support of revolution. He will next complete in June at the national competition hosted at the University of Maryland.
Each year nearly 3,000 students with their families and teachers gather at the University of Maryland, College Park for the week-long National Contest. They come from all fifty United States, the District of Columbia, Guam, American Samoa, the Northern Mariana Islands, Department of Defense Schools in the Atlantic, and international schools in China, Korea, and elsewhere (NHD International). |
This past week we welcomed Katelyn Shaughnessy as our new long-term sub for grade 7 special education as Ms. Gilman returned from her leave but will be filling in as the building's student services coordinator during Ms. Sears's leave.
We also welcome Ms. Catalina Gonzalez on Monday who will join our front office staff. We look forward to both of their contributions to our school. |

Dear Lincoln School Composting Volunteers,
Thank you so much for your awesome support this school year! Since January, we have had six amazing volunteers helping out over multiple days. While this number is down from twenty unique volunteers from September-December, we still LhVE our volunteers and whether you joined us for one session or many, we truly appreciate YOU and your time.
As we look ahead to the end year, we are in dire need of volunteers and would be delighted to see you again– or to have you help spread the word about this important work we are doing in our school with others who might also be interested in volunteering.
If you'd like to spend time with your child as you volunteer, your child is welcome to join you at the compost table if they would like to pull up a chair and eat their lunch with you, don a pair of composting gloves, or use the coveted composting tongs!
Please don’t hesitate to reach out with any questions or suggestions. Thank you again for your invaluable support!
Most sincerely, Gwen & Nicole |

Hi, my name is Marcelo and I am doing a Civics Action Project on the difference between Standards Based Grading and Letter Based Grading. I would like to know how students and parents/guardians feel about this topic. Would you please consider taking my survey? It should take about five minutes or less. The survey is completely anonymous. Thank you for your help! |

On April 13, 2026, we will gather at the State House for METCO Advocacy Day. I am asking you wholeheartedly to be there and to bring your students with you.
I understand what it takes to step away from your daily responsibilities. I know some of you may feel the pressure of taking the day off, of leaving your buildings, of navigating logistics that are never simple. But I am reminded of my own METCO director, Mr. Carroll Blake of Lincoln Public Schools, who never missed an opportunity to show up, to advocate, and to make sure our voices were heard. He understood that moments like this are not interruptions to the work they are the work.
And right now, this moment matters deeply. I want to be candid: the METCO budget is not 100% secure. There are colleagues who question whether this funding should continue. That is the reality we are facing.
And that is exactly why your voice is needed. When you show up, it sends a message. When students share their stories, it changes perspectives. When we stand together, it protects the future of this program.
Advocacy Day is not just a field trip; it is a defining experience. It is where students see themselves reflected in power, where they begin to understand that they belong in the rooms where decisions are made, and where they learn that their voices can shape policy.
I know this because I lived it as a METCO student, as a METCO parent, and now as a State Representative fighting to ensure this program continues for generations to come.
So I ask you, with deep respect for all that you do: Please show up. Please bring your students. Please stand with us in this moment. Transportation will be provided, with buses departing from 11 Roxbury Street at 9:00 AM. I’m happy to talk to the School board or Superintendent .
This is about honoring the work you already do by bringing it into the State House. This is about ensuring that METCO’s next 60 years are even stronger than its first. And this is about showing our students together that their voices matter.
Thank you again for your leadership, your sacrifice, and your unwavering commitment to our young people.
We need you in the room.
With gratitude, urgency, and shared purpose, Christopher J. Worrell State Representative Representing the Great People of the 5th Suffolk District (Dorchester and Roxbury) |

Join Lincoln Sports Academy for its inaugural year - what we expect to be the highlight of the summer! This special week builds on the traditions so many have come to love: friendly, competitive games like soccer, capture the flag, football, gatorball (and more!), relaxing lunches at the pool, and a weeklong, camp-wide tournament that brings everyone together, win or lose. It's EPIC!
We’re also excited to introduce new games and traditions that will make this experience even more memorable!
Camp is sponsored by Lincoln Parks & Recreation and led by Lincoln residents Bryan Doo and Kurt MacLaurin. Bryan’s company, Optimal Fitness, will operate the camp, bringing over 25 years of experience to our town. The camp will run rain or shine, with activities held on Codman Field and also in the Reed Gym.
