Dear Parents and Caregivers,
Welcome to the month of April. April is extremely special for us as we celebrate the Month of the Military Child. We started the month off in style with a special edition of our morning announcements presented by Col. Jimenez and Chief Master Sergeant Vollmer. Our staff have also worked hard to make sure that there were celebratory posters around the entire school to greet our students. Our PTO has also been present at our parent conferences the last two Wednesdays distributing items to help celebrate the month as well.
We’ll have more ways to celebrate our students throughout the month including our annual Month of the Military Child Dinner. As you know, this year’s dinner will be a BBQ. The PTO will also be on hand with a gift basket raffle and representatives from Raytheon will join us to help lead some STEM activities for our students. This will all take place on April 15. April 15th is also the official Purple Up for Military Kids Day. We’d like to thank our PTO who have once again purchased a t-Shirt for all of our students, faculty and staff to wear on that day. We will distribute t-shirts on Monday, April 13 and we ask that your child join us in purpling up by wearing the shirt on Wednesday April 15.
If you celebrate either Passover or Easter I hope that you’ve either had or have a great holiday. Enjoy the weekend and we look forward to seeing everyone back at school on Monday.

The excitement of March Madness wasn’t just on TV…it was alive and thriving in the Wellness department this past month!
Our students in K-4 brought the energy as they practiced their basketball skills, making impressive shots and improving their dribbling with each class. They also had a special karate demonstration that wowed everyone, and students were introduced to the fast-paced fun of Gaga ball-quickly becoming a new favorite!
Middle schoolers took a break from the paddle and racket sports of February and completed a unit on floor hockey. We are currently finishing up with volleyball. During the units, the students are introduced to the history of the sport, skills that they will be practicing, all culminated by putting these skills into a game setting. The students have shown excellent growth throughout both units. There is always a focus on sportsmanship and collaboration. As with all team sports, communication is critical to success.
Throughout all the action, Hanscom students showed incredible perseverance, confidence, and teamwork. Whether they were trying something new, cheering on classmates, or pushing themselves to improve, their growth has been amazing to see.
We are so proud of all they’ve accomplished this month- way to go, athletes! 👏

We’re excited to share a few updates from the Food Service Department:
New Menu Items in April:
We will be adding Cheese Pierogies and Buffalo Chicken Pierogies to the menu. The listed allergens are dairy, wheat, and soy. Please note that the dough also contains lupin beans. We will also be featuring oven roasted chicken thighs from Maine Family Farms and Jollof Rice. More product information is available HERE .

This fall for the 17th year, Sudbury Flag Football League will be running an organized flag football
program in Sudbury. This is a non-contact contact version of football where young players can
develop their passing, catching and defending skills.
The SFFL Is for BOTH Boys & Girls. The games will be played by the Official National Flag Football rules. Each player who is placed on a team will receive an NFL replica jersey with NFL team colors with
matching shorts and a flag belt and flags.
Registration for Sudbury Spring Flag Football League is open and we currently accepting applications
for its 2026 Spring league for children who are currently grades K through 11.
Games will be played on Sundays. There will be 8 regular season games plus play-off games. The
majority of games will be played on the field turf.

We have a limited number of spots available. The first proposed date of the league is Sunday 4/12. The drop-dead date for registration is Friday 4/10.
