Superintendent's Bi-weekly Message

March 13, 2026

Dear Lincoln Public Schools Families,

I hope you were able to enjoy the beautiful weather earlier this week, and are not as bummed out as I am to see cold weather returning. At least for now (I am knocking on wood as I write this), I am not seeing any substantive snow storms in the forecast. Assuming no big weather events and school closures for the rest of the year, the last day of school would be Thursday, June 18th. But we will wait until April to update the calendar on the district website – I definitely don’t want to jinx anything at this point.

For this week’s newsletter I wanted to highlight the many after-school opportunities that we have available for students, and spotlight a couple current and upcoming extra-curricular events.

We are fortunate to be able to provide students with a wide variety of extra-curricular and athletic opportunities. This has been a focus for the district for the last several years, and we’re excited about the high levels of participation we have seen from students. There are way too many different clubs, activities, and sports for me to try to list here, but principals and after-school coordinators regularly send out information about opportunities, and we have new sports and activities that are available in each season.

A couple specific current and upcoming events that I did want to highlight are the Lincoln School musical, the Hanscom School musical, and the upcoming Hanscom School art show:

  • Lincoln School presents The SpongeBob Musical Youth Edition – The Lincoln School musical is currently running, with final showtimes tonight (Friday the 13th) and tomorrow (Saturday the 14th). The show is based on the television series by Stephen Hillenburg, with a book by Kyle Jarrow, and contains a variety of original songs. Showtime is 7:00 PM for this family-friendly show – tickets are general admission and available at the door from 30 minutes before showtime.

  • Hanscom School presents Disney’s Beauty and the Beast, Jr. – This timeless classic is presented by the Hanscom Theater Club and Information Learning Center, and has showtimes on March 26th and 27th. Doors will open at 6:30 PM for the Hanscom Primary School stage, and tickets are $5 at the door.

  • Hanscom School Art Show – The Hanscom School will be putting on its annual Art Show in the K-4 lobby and dining commons on April 9th from 4:00 - 5:30 PM, with refreshments available for purchase from the PTO. After the show, PreK - 8th grade artwork will continue to be on display through April 16th.

These are only a couple examples of the various events happening at each of the schools, so please check out the principals’ newsletters for information about other events. I hope you and your children are able to enjoy them!
