Family Update

March 13, 2026

15 March 2026

Dear Parents and Caregivers,

Please accept my apologies for the delayed weekly update and the lack of a video. It was a very busy week at Hanscom School.
I am proud to announce the success of our middle school students at the regional National History Day Competition at Stoneham High School. Out of 22 participants, 17 students won medals and qualified for the State level competition. The remaining 5 students received honorable mentions, and we expect to hear by Monday if any of them will also be invited to the State competition. This is a very competitive event, and we are incredibly proud of their hard work. We wish them the best of luck!

Don't forget to check the sections below for important upcoming events, including a 6-8 movie night this Friday and a performance of Beauty and the Beast next week.

I hope you have a great rest of your weekend. We look forward to seeing all students back at school tomorrow.

Warm Regards,
Mr. Ledebuhr

Sudbury Spring Flag Football League

This fall for the 17th year, Sudbury Flag Football League will be running an organized flag football
program in Sudbury.  This is a non-contact contact version of football where young players can
develop their passing, catching and defending skills.

The SFFL Is for BOTH Boys & Girls. The games will be played by the Official National Flag Football rules. Each player who is placed on a team will receive an NFL replica jersey with NFL team colors with
matching shorts and a flag belt and flags.

Registration for Sudbury Spring Flag Football League is open and we currently accepting applications
for its 2026 Spring league for children who are currently grades K through 11.

Games will be played on Sundays. There will be 8 regular season games plus play-off games. The
majority of games will be played on the field turf.

If you are interested in having your child join the League, visit our website to register
at www.sudburyflagfootball.com or email Sudburyflagfootballleague@gmail.com

We have a limited number of spots available. The first proposed date of the league is Sunday 4/12. The
drop-dead date for registration is Friday 4/10. Please do not wait till the last minute because once we hit capacity, we will NOT be able to add any new players. Unfortunately, last year we had to turn some players away.

Leaders in Youth Mental Health Series

March 18, 2026 12 - 1pm

Responding Skillfully in the Context of Childhood Irritability
Wendy Bamatter, PhD

Learning objectives:

Childhood irritability, which can range from developmentally normative to serious and concerning, can often be difficult for adults to manage effectively in the home and at school. Irritability is often paired with behavioral responses like aggression, arguing, withdrawal, and even high-risk behaviors.

In this webinar, caregivers and educators will:
1. Gain a stronger foundational understanding of childhood irritability
2. Learn practical and effective strategies for staying grounded, supportive, and still firm
3. Become familiar with therapeutic interventions that may be used as referral options should children and their families need additional support.

We are thrilled to reach out and notify you that our annual School Consultation Service “Leaders in Youth Mental Health Series” has launched. As noted as part of our partnership, we are offering four free caregiver webinars for the parents and caregivers in your school district.

All information for the caregiver webinars, including dates/times, Zoom links, presenter information and learning objectives can be found here on this website: https://healthcare.mgb.org/streaming/Live/McLean/McLean_SCS.html

Important information:
1. All caregivers of school aged children K-12 and school staff in your school/district are invited to attend. Please note that the webinars are restricted to SCS partnerships only and should not be distributed outside your district.
2. Webinars will be hosted live on their scheduled date and time with closed captioning. If you are unable to watch it live, they will be recorded and available “On Demand” shortly afterwards. The On Demand videos will be found on the same website link above.
3. No pre-registration is required for the webinars.
