Dear K-4 Families,

What an incredible week at Lincoln School! Between high-energy tryouts and major milestones, the building has been buzzing with excitement. Here is a look at what our students have been up to:

Coaches Hamilton and Kearse wrapped up the LPS Step Team tryouts this week. We are all eagerly anticipating the energy and power these performers will bring to our community soon!

Tuesday was a day of celebration as we marked the 100th Day of School—which also served as the 1,000th day of school for the 5th graders! Students enjoyed a variety of creative counting and crafting activities to celebrate how much they’ve grown this year.

The Bentley Afterschool programs are officially up and running! This program holds a special place in our hearts; did you know it actually changed the course of Principal Peledge’s career? While originally studying business, his experience working with students in this program inspired him to become an educator.

Last night, two representatives from each 3rd-grade class attended the School Committee meeting to present their Student Learning Spotlight. They did a fantastic job explaining the four components of Morning Meeting: Greeting, Share, Activity, and Message. Our student ambassadors even led the Committee in a lively game of "Woosa!" During rehearsals, it was a joy to hear the students speak so positively about how these meetings help them build friendships and prepare for the day ahead. A huge thank you to our wonderful presenters!

I wish you all a restful and wonderful school vacation week!

Sincerely,
Sarah

METCO is Turning 60!

Lincoln Public Schools is a proud founding member of the METCO program, and this year METCO is celebrating its 60th year. As part of its 60th anniversary, METCO Inc. is looking to raise funds to support a variety of student programming and professional learning opportunities.

The bulk of METCO funding comes through state grants to participating districts, and this funding goes to support METCO transportation and district staffing costs, along with a number of local programs. But METCO Inc. also sponsors a variety of programs for participating students through its Boston headquarters. For individuals or organizations that may wish to donate to METCO’s fundraising efforts, they have set up a donation page. For any Lincoln-associated families or organizations that may wish to donate, please be sure to mention the Lincoln connection when filling out your donation. And thank you!
