K-4 Family Updates Newsletter |
Dear K-4 Families,
We have more wintery weather coming our way so it's a good time to share some information about recess!
Like many schools, we use the Child Care Weather Watch chart (see below) to determine when the temperatures and conditions require us to hold recess indoors. Recess is outdoors when the conditions are green or yellow, and indoors for red. Believe me, we want kids to get outside for fresh air, movement and fun so we do everything we can to keep recess outside!
Outdoor recess can be tons of fun, and in the snowy and cold weather it is important to be prepared! We have Snow Specific Recess Rules (see below) to ensure children can enjoy their time outside. There is a lot of winter gear and the potential for lost items so it's very helpful if layers, hats, mittens, boots and coats are labeled!
As you know, morning arrival is a very busy time on campus, especially in the "south lot" where we have staff parking, K-4 car drop off, and preschool drop off. Preschool caregivers are required to walk their children to the door, and children of employees who work at Lincoln School park and walk. We ask all other vehicles to stay in the "live drop-off" lane. Thank you for your cooperation!
Sincerely, Sarah |
