December 19, 2025 Lincoln 5-8 Family Updates

Health Update
We have seen an increase in flu cases in the school. We wanted to share some of the steps we can take to prevent further spread.
If your child has vomited or is running a fever when medication is not given, please keep them home for at least 24 hours without symptoms before returning to school.
Other tips:
Handwashing: encourage frequent and thorough handwashing with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially before eating. Hand sanitizer is a good alternative when soap and water are not available.
Cough/Sneeze Etiquette: cough or sneeze into a tissue or the elbow, not their hands. Washing hands after using a tissue is also recommended
Limit Face Touching: remind students to avoid touching their eyes, nose, and mouth throughout the day because this is a primary way germs enter the body.
Staying Hydrated: drinking plenty of fluids
Cleaning surfaces: cleaning of high-touch surfaces, such as doorknobs, desks, shared supplies, and light switches, using disinfectant wipes

HATS Order Deadline is Today!!!
HATS Recognition Award Honor A Teacher & Staff
HATS ("Honor A Teacher & Staff") are customized award certificates (and an actual tiny hat!) purchased by caregivers and students for teachers and staff, to honor and thank them for their work, while supporting the Lincoln School Foundation.
In addition to your students' teachers and classroom assistants, consider recognizing the dedicated work of support specialists, nurses, custodians, librarians, administrators, and staff in the school office, cafeteria, Recreation Department, METCO, and LEAP. You can honor anyone who enhances your students' school experience, and LSF will deliver HATS certificates and tokens to honorees, who truly appreciate this gesture of support and celebration.
Gift amounts are not disclosed to the recipient, and are tax-deductible as permitted by law.
