Grade 7 Student Learning Spotlight
At a recent School Committee meeting, several grade 7 students shared their learning with the School Committee. Thank you to grade 7 teachers Ms. Yung and Ms. Price for supporting the kids during their presentation. Photo credit to School Committee member Susan Taylor.
Lincoln Reps
In his role as wellness teacher, Mr. Trant has initiated a new before-school wellness program for students in grades 5-8 called Lincoln Reps. Students can find sign up sheets in the main office or in the gym lobby. See the picture for details.
Community Agreement
The objective of Lincoln Reps is to provide students a daily morning option that allows them to develop their functional strength. I think of functional strength as overall body strength that allows one to more fully engage in the various adventures of life. Research is clear that exercising and moving your body before school significantly improve academic performance. Body image, mood and self-confidence are also positively impacted.
Community Culture Lincoln Reps is a community of fifth through eighth grade students who are dedicated to improving their functional strength. We strive to make ourselves and each other better. Everyone deserves to be treated with respect, to feel pride and dignity in their effort and growth.
We are Respectful, Kind, Supportive, and Encouraging!
Pride & Dignity We are committed to getting stronger and making each other better humans. We will respect each other, our school and the process.
We are Welcoming and Inclusive!
Importance of Form in Calisthenics Using proper form is essential when exercising. Students will be open to form corrections. The only reps that count are the ones that are done well!
We are committed to getting stronger by doing the exercise correctly!
Honesty & Integrity We will recognize student achievements and issue shirts when students cross key milestones. A spreadsheet will track our daily progress and students will work collaboratively with a partner to encourage and support each other. Students will enter their own results with their partners.
We are honest and will accurately record the correct results!

Still Life with Iris
Congratulations to the cast and crew (as well as our drama director Ms. Hall) on a wonderful fall play. I caught the Thursday night show, and they all did great, including having to navigate a curtain hiccough. See some pictures below from that night’s performance.
SpongeBob the Musical - Auditions
Without any rest for the weary, our students in grades 5-8 got to audition last week for our spring musical, Spongebob the Musical. The performances will be in March. Congratulations to those students who auditioned. Students will also have the opportunity to participate in stage crew. Rehearsals started this week and will continue after this holiday recess up until the shows in March.
Lincoln Cup and 4Cs Assembly
Last Friday we held a 4Cs assembly to recognize students across the school who have been showing our 4Cs Core Values. Students are nominated by staff and/or fellow students. Our next recognition will be in March.
We also hosted our next Lincoln Cup Event that featured multiple heats of a relay race out on Centerfield. Runners were chosen across the grades and teams and all others stood out to cheer them on. Students then moved inside for some hula-hoop team competitions. A points update was also shared with the Bruins currently holding the overall lead. A great amount of support was shown by all for teammates and competitors alike – it was a great start to a Friday!

Free Online Learning Opportunity for 7th and 8th Graders
The VHS Collaborative (The VHS Collaborative) is a non-profit organization that offers content-rich high school level courses to students across the country and around the world. Through Virtual High School, Lincoln School is able to increase the course offerings available to our students. Virtual High School courses tend to be challenging, and are targeted toward students who are motivated and ready to take on this extra challenge.
Lincoln School 7th and 8th graders may take a course in spring semester. VHS’s spring semester begins January 28, 2026. These high school level courses are generally rigorous and demand up to 5 hours of weekly work. Students complete their assignments on their own time, nights and weekends. VHS work is in addition to their regular Lincoln School course load. They do not replace courses offered by LPS teachers and students do not receive high school credit though the course is recorded on their transcript.
There will be an informational meeting for students interested in finding out more about this learning opportunity during Advisory on Friday, December 12th.
Contact Mark McDonough, our VHS site coordinator, with any questions.
