The Hanscom Middle School Improvement Council is comprised of representatives of all parts of the school community: students, parents, faculty, administration and the wider Hanscom community. It meets monthly during the school year and is charged with:

• assisting the Principal in the identification of the educational needs of all students
• reviewing the annual school budget
• setting priorities for the development of a School Improvement Plan that is tied to the district’s Action Plan.

The School Council has developed 3 goals for the 2007-08 school year. They are:

1. To improve instruction and student learning through focused professional development, examination of student assessment results and student work products.
2. To improve student health and safety, and reduce non-academic barriers to learning.
3. To improve and enhance communication between Hanscom Middle School and stakeholders.
