Help videotape School Committee meetings
The Lincoln School Committee has worked for the past year to improve communications with the community. As such, we support the taping of SC meetings by Lincoln Community Access TV and hope that it can continue on a regular basis. In order for this coverage to consistently occur, Lincoln C.A. TV is looking for 3 or 4 volunteers to tape the meetings. This would require each person to tape once every couple months. If you are comfortable with a video camera and are interested in School Committee meetings, contact Jim Cunningham at Bulletin@Lincolnchannel.com or Julie Dobrow at 781-259-1220. Training is minimal and will be provided.
Maintain School Committee web site
A volunteer is needed to take on the responsibility of maintaining this School Committee web site. Read more about the duties involved and what it takes in order to be able to fill this role. If interested, please contact Julie Dobrow at 781-259-1220 or send an email to the Committee.
The School committee is looking for volunteers from the Lincoln community to join a policy sub-committee. This sub-committee is charged with reviewing the existing policy manual and exploring ways of making school policy more accessible to the broader community. Helpful member qualifications would be a familiarity with the current operations of the district or prior experience organizing and communicating policy or legal information to a diverse audience. If interested, please apply to Cathy Rogers at 781-259-9572.
The school budget for the 2006/07 school year, FY07, has been developed by the school district and approved by the School Committee. It now needs to be approved by the voters. The proposed budget for the Lincoln and Hanscom schools has been discussed at a series of public School Committee meetings, and ultimately the School Committee votes to approve budgets. Lincoln School budgets must then be approved by voters at Town meeting, and if an override is requested, additional approval is required via Town elections. Hanscom School budgets are governed by the terms of the contract under which Lincoln operates those schools.
Read a letter that outlines the budgeting process and gives the dates of key meetings.
These meetings are a chance to engage in informal discussions with members of the School Committee and are a continuation of the "coffees" that were held by the School Committee last year. A theme for each of these discussions will be set. Meetings will be held on both the Lincoln and Hanscom campuses to facilitate participation by all who are interested. The dates planned for these meetings for this school year are:
March, 2006: date to be announced. This is a reschedule of the round table previously scheduled for 2/15/06.
June 7, 2006
Two opt-in email lists have been set up to allow efficient and timely distribution of news and notices. One list, SCNews, will be used by the School Committee to send out information such as meeting dates, changes in the date or time of meetings, and agenda information. The other list, DistrictNews, will be used by the central office team to send out notices and information that are of interest to the Lincoln and Hanscom School communities.
If you subscribe to either or both lists, your email address will be kept private. The Lincoln School District will only use the email addresses obtained via the subscription process for the purpose of distributing email messages to these lists. The email addresses will not be shared with any third party, except in the case of law enforcement officials with appropriate orders.
To subscribe to SCNews, send an email to SCNews-request@mlist.lincnet.org with the subject "subscribe" (without quotes) and leave the body of the message blank. To subscribe to DistrictNews, send an email to DistrictNews-request@mlist.lincnet.org with the subject "subscribe" (without quotes) and leave the body of the message blank.
Send SCNews subscription request (just add the word "subscribe" in the title and hit send)
Send DistrictNews subscription request (just add the word "subscribe" in the title and hit send)
In either case, you will receive an email response that asks you to confirm that you really intended to join the list. This is done to protect against someone signing people up for a mail list without their knowledge or consent. Simply reply to the confirmation request if you want to join the list. Once you have done this, you will receive another message welcoming you to the list.
You may remove yourself from the list(s) at any time. Every message sent to the list will contain the instructions for unsubscribing. To unsubscribe from SCNews, send an email to SCNews-request@mlist.lincnet.org with the subject "unsubscribe" (without quotes) and the message body blank. To unsubscribe from DistrictNews, send an email to DistrictNews-request@mlist.lincnet.org with the subject "unsubscribe" (without quotes) and the message body blank.
