BUDGET COMMUICATIONS WORKPLAN

GOAL: To inform all members of the Lincoln community about the FY 07 budget

RESULTS TO BE ANTICIPATED: All constituencies of the Lincoln community (parents, other Lincoln residents, teachers and staff) will be given opportunities to understand how and why the FY 07 was built as it was, will know the different elements for which funding is requested and how these elements support the educational program.

RELATIONSHIP TO DISTRICT GOALS: Development of budget is a key SC and District goal, and underscores most others.

Discussion and vote on Capital Planning Initiatives	September 29, 2005
Discuss budget guidelines	September 29, 2005
Letter to community about budget process for LJ, SCNews, bulletin boards	October 6, 2005
Receive budget proposal from Administration	November 3, 2005
Meeting with Fin Com on budget	November 30, 2005
Public discussions of budget at SC meetings	November 2005-January 2006
Vote budget	December, 2005
Determine need for Prop. 2 ½ override proposal	December, 2005
Present School Committee Budget Proposal to Lincoln Finance Committee	December, 2005
Articles in Lincoln Journal (work with editor to make sure series of articles about budget development are written)	September ’05-March ‘06
Lincoln Journal op ed	Early March ‘06
Work with PTA, other Town boards to set up meetings, pubic forums as necessary and make public presentations	January – March ‘06
Townwide mailing	Draft by mid-February, send out early March -06
