At Magic Garden, we believe an excellent pre-school program must be built on
a foundation of superb teachers and an excellent teacher to child ratio. We
employ a team of highly motivated, energetic professionals who are committed to
the highest standards of excellence in the field of early care and education.
We believe offering more teachers per student than are
mandated by the state requirements greatly contributes to the quality of our program. In our pre-school
and pre-Kindergarten rooms we employ 3 teachers for 15 students - a ratio
considerably stronger than many other pre-school or child care programs.

The low turnover of our
teachers and staff is truly exceptional. On average, Magic
Garden faculty has been with the school for greater than 7 years. This high
degree of stability allows us to provide a consistent
environment and culture for the children while continually improving and adapting
the program to meet the specific needs of currently enrolled children and families.
We have
a rigorous interview process to ensure that teachers are not only fully qualified, but also a good fit with the culture and philosophy of Magic Garden.
Our teachers come to us with very impressive credentials:
- 93% of our faculty
had previous classroom experience before coming to Magic Garden. On average,
those teachers had 7.4 years of classroom experience before coming to Magic
Garden.
- 85% of our faculty has have a Bachelors or Masters degree, and 83% of
them are in education fields such as Early Childhood Education and Elementary
Education.
- Almost all our teachers have received specialized training in areas
such as applied behavior analysis, special education, special needs, and the Devereux early childhood assessment.
- We have faculty members who are fluent in
Spanish, French, Hebrew and American Sign Language.
We emphasize a trans-disciplinary
model involving all relevant team members (teachers, therapists,
administrators, and parents). Our faculty keeps up to date on the latest in
early childhood education through workshops, courses, and seminars and Magic
Garden supports our teachers' ongoing professional development.
Magic Garden staff
must meet all of the qualifications of both the Department of Early Education
and Care (EEC) and the National
Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC).
Magic Garden is licensed by EEC and is an Accredited NAEYC Program. We
were first accredited in June, 1999. Our program ID is: 369397.
Magic Garden is overseen by a
Board of Directors composed of parents
and staff, who are elected by the school community at the Annual Meeting
in October, and is also overseen by the Center Director, Gail Eddy, who is reachable by:
