We are pleased to inform you that the Smith Cafe at the Lincoln School received the HUSSC Bronze Award for the Lincoln School District. The HUSSC is a recognition award for schools who have demonstrated a commitment to excellence in both nutrition and physical education to promote a healthier school environment for children. It is a wonderful accomplishment for the Food Service Department, the students, the School District and the state of Massachusetts.
The award is posted to the HUSSC website. We have received a formal written acknowledgement of the award from the USDA. The Public Affairs Staff from the USDA’s Northeast Regional Office will be in contact with us to set up an awards event with our school and school administration to recognize this achievement.
This program is a key component of Michelle Obama’s “Let’s Move!” campaign. The Lincoln School in one of only 1504 schools across America certified by the USDA as a HUSSC School. Cathleen and her team continue to develop new ideas to serve students and staff to support the efforts in our schools. Cathleen says, “This was a real community effort with members of the Wellness Committee providing great support that helped us win this award”.
