LINCOLN SCHOOL COUNCIL

The Lincoln School Council, as required by the 1993 MA Educational Reform Act, is comprised of representatives of all parts of the school community: parents, faculty, administration and the wider Lincoln community. It meets six times during the school year and is charged with:

  • assisting the Principal in the identification of the educational needs of all students
  • reviewing the annual school budget
  • setting priorities for the development of a School Improvement Plan that is tied to the district’s Action Plan.

The School Council has seven goal areas for the 2007-2009 school years. They are:

  1. To build a balanced literacy program.
  2. To ensure continuing improvement of student achievement in the area of math.
  3. To monitor the science related home school collaboration developed in 06-07 to ensure continued opportunities for families to participate in the learning experiences of their children both in school and at home.
  4. To review the current homework practices Grades K-8 to ensure that assignments are designed to extend learning in an appropriate amount of time.
  5. To effectively integrate technology in instruction and assessment.
  6. To monitor the work of the middle school renewal initiative.
  7. To establish a school environment characterized by collaboration, tolerance, respect and celebration for all groups.
