Reports
On this page, we publish reports presented to the School Committee and broader Lincoln community describing activities and initiatives of the Lincoln Public Schools. Presentations and discussions about these plans are often scheduled in public settings and members of the community are encouraged to attend meetings to hear the report in its presentation format. Presentations often contain information that helps to establish the context for the report in general and lends to a deeper understanding of the ideas presented.
The posting of reports is intended to keep stakeholders informed on the development and implementation of initiatives of the Lincoln Public Schools. Your feedback is welcomed and can be submitted directly to the author of a plan or through the Superintendent‘s Office, Hartwell Building, Ballfield Road, Lincoln, MA 01773. Email is also welcomed and may be submitted to mbrandmeyer@lincnet.org

| Mathematics Materials Review Committee: Recommendations for Core Mathematics Materials and Implementation Plan, Grades K-5
|
The Mathematics Materials Review Committee [MMRC], under the leadership of
Mary Sterling, conducted a process to select core materials for
mathematics instruction for grades kindergarten to five based on the best
evidence about the programs currently available and the best possible
understanding of the needs of the students, teachers and our communities.
The district also requested funding in the FY09 budget to purchase new
materials, provide professional development and on-going support for the
faculty to successfully implement a new program.
The MMRC followed an extensive process that consisted of a careful review
of the research on elementary mathematics teaching, used extensive
evaluation criteria, made site visits to eighteen public schools using
materials under consideration, and sponsored parent and faculty meetings.
They narrowed the options to three programs that best met the district's
criteria, coordinated trial use in ten classrooms, and carefully evaluated
of all of the data. The MMRC has recommended that we adopt Everyday
Mathematics, published by the Wright Group/McGraw Hill.

This is the annual report on the Massachusetts Comprehensive Assessment System (MCAS) results and Adequate Yearly Progress in 2006 for the Lincoln Public Schools. It includes both district-level and school-level results. In 2006 there was a significant expansion to the MCAS testing program. To comply with No Child Left Behind (NCLB) requirements, English Language Arts (ELA) testing was added to three grades (5th, 6th and 8th) and Reading or ELA testing now occurs at all grades 3-8. Mathematics testing was added to three grades (3rd, 5th and 7th) and now occurs at all grades 3-8. Science assessments remain at grades 5 and 8.
