The district adopts a set of goals each school year that set the high level direction for the school system. The goals contain specific objectives for the current school year as well as longer-term objectives that cover a 3 year time period. The central office and school teams pursue specific initiatives and activities in order to implement these goals. The goals for the current school year can be found via the links lbelow. The School Committee is responsible for reviewing and approving the goals. This process is carried out at the end of each school year and is conducted over the course of several public meetings of the committee. There is ample opportuniy for interested people to learn about the proposed goals, offer comments and suggestions, and observe the discussion held by the School Committee prior to the adoption of the goals. To learn the dates for these discussions and votes, which typically happen during May and June, please check the agendas for School Committee meetings. Once the goals are adopted, work plans are created which describe in greater detail the specific activities that will be carried out in order to achieve the goals. The key work plans are reviewed and discussed at School Committee meetings in the fall of each year. During the course of the school year, status reports about key goals are given at School Committee meetings. The agenda for those meetings indicates when these discussions will occur. School Improvement Plans are also created each year for the Lincoln, Hanscom Primary and Hanscom Middle schools. These plans are created by School Councils, which are teams of faculty, administrators and parents. More information about the School Councils and these improvement plans is available under the School council menu selections for each of the schools: |
