Dear Students,
Hello! I hope you are enjoying your summer vacation. I am looking forward to
getting to know each of you as readers and writers, and as unique
individuals. In sixth grade English, you will have many opportunities to
express that
individuality in writing as well as through literature choices and
discussion.
During the upcoming school year, we will immerse ourselves in a variety
of genres, including poetry, mystery, mythology, and historical fiction.
This web page is a place for you and your parents to find information about your English class, including upcoming units of study, homework, expectations, and procedures for our classroom. This year, I also plan to post student work. Check back often because I will be updating the web page regularly.
You will receive your reading logs in the mail very soon, along with a welcome letter and supply list from the sixth grade teachers. Remember to record the books you read this summer. You can hand in your reading log any time during the first week of school. We will use them to kick off the "1,000 Book Challenge" for the 2011-2012 school year.
